Overview
Introduction
This dataset is designed for the detection of speech bubbles in comic panels. It includes six classes of speech bubble shapes, each with distinct visual characteristics: Elipse, Cloude, Other, Rectangle, Sea Uchirin, and Thorn.
Object Classes
Elipse
Description
Elipse speech bubbles are oval-shaped, featuring smooth, continuous curves with no sharp angles.
Instructions
- Identify the oval speech bubbles, ensuring that the bounding box encompasses the entire shape.
- Annotate only bubbles that maintain an elliptical form; do not include adjacent textual elements outside the elipse.
Cloude
Description
Cloude bubbles resemble fluffy cloud shapes, characterized by rounded, irregular edges that mimic cloud forms.
Instructions
- Look for speech bubbles with soft, billowy outlines.
- Ensure the annotation includes the full extent of the cloud shape, avoiding any connected elements that are not part of the cloud form.
Other
Description
The Other category includes speech bubbles with unique or unconventional shapes that do not fit the standard categories.
Instructions
- Detect any speech bubble that does not conform to the listed shapes but is distinct and complete.
- Ensure that the bounding box captures the unique shape in full, distinguishing it from typical forms.
Rectangle
Description
Rectangle speech bubbles typically have straight edges with defined corners, often forming a classic rectangular shape.
Instructions
- Annotate bubbles with clear, straight lines and right angles.
- Include the full rectangular area, making sure to exclude any elements extending beyond the edges.
Sea Uchirin
Description
Sea Uchirin bubbles appear as starburst shapes with multiple pointed rays extending outward from a central point.
Instructions
- Identify the star-shaped bubbles with sharp, radiating points.
- Ensure all points and the central area are included within the bounding box, excluding any overlapping content.
Thorn
Description
Thorn bubbles resemble star shapes but with more elongated, sharp tips, giving a thorny appearance.
Instructions
- Look for bubbles with sharp, elongated points resembling thorns.
- Encompass the entire thorn shape, with attention to the sharp extensions, while excluding nested or external elements.
