Description

Here are a few use cases for this project:

  1. Infrastructure Maintenance: NCHRP can be utilized by civil engineers and infrastructure maintenance teams to assess the structural health of bridges, buildings, and highways. By automating the identification of cracks, spalling, and exposed rebar, they can schedule and prioritize repair and maintenance work more efficiently.

  2. Drone-based Inspections: Integrating NCHRP into drone-based inspection systems can help cover larger areas more quickly, eliminating the need for manual inspection of structures. This will help reduce the cost and time spent on inspections while maintaining safety standards.

  3. Construction Quality Control: The model can be used during the construction process to monitor the quality of the work being performed. By identifying potential areas with structural issues, contractors can address these problems before they worsen, leading to stronger and safer structures.

  4. Disaster Assessment: NCHRP can be deployed in the aftermath of natural disasters like earthquakes, hurricanes, and floods to evaluate the structural integrity of affected buildings and infrastructures. Rapid assessments can help prioritize emergency response efforts and direct resources effectively.

  5. Historical Preservation: Organizations involved in the preservation of historical buildings can use NCHRP to identify areas of structural concern in aging architecture. This will help restorers determine the best methods of preservation and restoration for maintaining these culturally significant structures.
